I'm so sneaky

Let me start off by saying I am the worst secret keeper ever, and usually it is written all over my face if I know something good and juicy and I have to keep it a secret. Well this time the secret was about me. My father-in-law is the choir director at Weber State University's Institute. There are two choirs, one is the Chorolaires an audition only choir (this is the one he teaches) and then there are the Chorale this class takes anyone who signs up and generally sound like something you would here in a coral. Well since I'm the daughter-in-law of an institute teacher I get to park in their employee only parking, but the catch is I have to take an institute class. My husband works Wednesday nights so thats the night I decided to take one. As I looked through the registration paper to see what classes were being offered I noticed Chorale and got the giggles at how funny that would be. Then I did it I signed up :)  The first night I was there was horrible, my father-in-law saw me right away, so we had a little chat and decided to keep it a secret (I think he has a hard time holding onto the juicy secrets too). Well as the semester went on I continued to keep my secret and this weekend was the spring show.

Thursday night was the dress rehearsal and as soon as I got out of my car to walk up to the Browning Center (where we perform) I ran into Tesse my sister-in-laws friend, well she is actually an adopted Simon because we all like her so much, anyway she asked me "what are you doing here" "I'm singing I said" "No, what are you really doing here" "I'm in the Chorale" followed by fits of giggles. The night continued on like that. I ran into Becca my sister-in-law and she asked the same questions followed by giggles.

We were required to wear black nylons (they kept calling them "hose" yuck yuck yuck, oh and I had to go out and buy some because I did not own "hose") anyway my mother-in-law comes to the dress rehearsals and all three performances. One of her jobs is to be the clothing Nazi. She came up on stage when I was up there and told us all how nice we looked in our black "hose". I was smiling and sticking my leg out to show her my black "hose", but she didn't even notice me. We practiced our songs and then I sat down in the auditorium and looked at my phone. I had a missed call from my mother-in-law and she had left me a voicemail. I listened to it and it went something like this.... "Elicia your supposed to be up on stage singing right now, there practicing, OOOh my you are up on stage" click. I guess Becca had told her that I was here and I was singing. Oh and did I mention she then came up on stage with a camera and started getting actual evidence that I was there and participating. At the end of the practice I asked her if she would be even more surprised if I had come out as a folk dancer, ha ha ha could you only imagine. (Kalee thats what you should do, I would be very impressed :)

The rest of the performances went on like that, people being surprised left and right by my excellent secret skills. Although I would never admit this out loud I actually had a lot of fun being part of the Chorale. In the devotional before our last show my father-in-law asked who's first choir show is this? I raised my hand about as high as my elbow lying flat against my side. The next question he asked "who's last show is this? My hand flew up so high I didn't think I was ever going to get it down. So yeah I had fun doing the show, but in the end I think I like being an audience member better :)

Haha! I knew your plan, I am just glad it turned out fun! I am so impressed you were able to keep your sneaky secret to yourself for a whole semester! To be honest I have a hard time imagining you on stage singing. However I am sure you did amazing!

I know! Oh my gosh. While we were at the show, we read the list of choir members in the program and I saw YOUR name. I whispered to Jerald, "Is that OUR Elicia?" We peered at the group on stage and...there you were. So cute were you. Quite a great job you did!

I have got to agree with Aly. I am shocked you kept that a secret for so long, good job! HaHaHa! I bet you did great I have heard you sing before. It made me think of our performances in your truck singing Mariah Carry.
